Materials Guide
Hespéride® uses an extremely rigorous selection process for all of its materials. They are chosen to guarantee your comfort, to be practical in everyday use, and they are guaranteed to last.
Wood
Wood, a natural material, ages and changes over time according to its exposure to the weather and UV rays. Without regular treatment with a protective oil, wood will lose its original colour and turn grey/green. These changes are normal and do not affect the strength and durability of the furniture.
All the wood used in the manufacture of Hesperide® furniture is FSC® certified.
Teak is a precious exotic wood. It is the perfect wood for garden furniture and has a beautiful honey colour.
Its advantages: durability and strength (provided that it is maintained), rot-proof, always a pleasant temperature (wood stores heat), high quality.
Eucalyptus is an exotic pale-coloured wood. It is naturally resistant to a range of external elements.

Acacia is an exotic wood that appeals because of its uniform colour and golden brown hue. Less dense than teak, it lasts for about ten years.

Textiles
Texaline is a fabric made of 100% polyester fibers, coated with PVC and braided. It offers an infinite range of colours and effects and is available in plain, striped or mottled finishes. It is mainly used for deckchairs, dining chairs and armchairs and may be padded for extra comfort.
Its advantages: flexible, resistant, comfortable.
Polyester is used to make outdoor fabrics. It is opaque, and it is used for protection from the sun. In addition, it makes it possible to manufacture water-repellent fabrics: droplets form on the surface letting the water slide off. However, a water-repellent fabric is not waterproof if your garden furniture stays out in the rain too long.
Its advantages: abrasion resistant, tear resistant, water repellent, easy to maintain.
Polytexaline is a fabric composed of PVC-coated polyester fibers with uncoated polyester fibers mixed in to give it a fabric-like appearance.
Its advantages: comfortable to the touch, indoor/outdoor effect.
Olefin is a soft, lightweight woven textile designed for outdoor use. It has a sophisticated look that makes it an elegant fabric to use, offering a wide variety of weaves, textures, colours and prints. It's the perfect fabric for bringing touches of colour to your environment. And the 100% recyclable fiber can be re-extruded into new yarn.
Its advantages: robust, colourfast, resistant to mildew, stains, abrasion, water, UV and fading, and the fibre is 100% recyclable.
Sunbrella® A solution-dyed acrylic fiber that is as attractive as it is practical.
Its advantages: UV, fade, weather, tear and mildew resistant.
Coverings
Braided synthetic resin looks like rattan but without the drawbacks. This synthetic fiber is worked by hand and usually covers an aluminium structure. Flat, round or half-round, it has numerous design possibilities and can be braided in various styles. It may have a brushed or a shiny look. We offer it in several colours.
Its advantages: resistant to weather, UV, rain and salty air, 100% recyclable material.
Our acrylic or polyester mesh is a good way of covering garden furniture and giving it a different and trendy look. This synthetic fiber also comes in a wide variety of colours.
Its advantages: strong and dense, lightweight and breathable, pleasant to the touch, fade resistant, mildew resistant, water repellent, easy to maintain.
Durables materials
Steel, a strong material and 98% recyclable. Very attractive, steel can be used to create garden furniture in a variety of designs and styles.
Its advantages: strong and impact resistant, long-lasting if well maintained, recyclable.
Aluminium is our material of choice at Hesperide®. Lightweight and easy to handle, aluminium furniture can be folded or stacked for easy storage. This material is totally in keeping with the design of our furniture, which is intended to be modern and sleek.
Its advantages: light and easy to handle, very low maintenance, does not rust, cold and UV resistant, salty air resistant, fully recyclable.
L’ECP is a material composed of a mixture of calcite (rock) powder and PVC (polyvinyl chloride) extruded and pressed at high temperature and a top layer of PVC decoration. The PVC top layer contributes to waterproofing.
Its advantages: non-porous and therefore protects against moisture, anti-stain and anti-scratch.
Polycarbonate is a plastic material composed of transparent layers stacked on top of each other.
Its advantages: lightweight, robust, UV-resistant and durable.
