Product maintenance

  • General information

    Daily maintenance
Your product is subject to external elements, so regular cleaning is essential.
    Remove stains immediately.
Wipe with a cloth dampened with warm soapy water (or warm for heavier soiling), or a specific and adapted product.
    Rinse thoroughly.
Finish with a clean, dry cloth.
If in doubt, please contact the distributor or read the material sheet on the Hesperide.com website.
If not cleaned regularly, your product will deteriorate.

It is normal to see a natural wear of the product with time and use, in the form of alteration of colours and surface conditions, mechanical functions and fastenings of bolted elements.

Weather conditions (wind, rain, snow, hail, salty winds)
Outdoor furniture is designed for use in normal outdoor climatic conditions. Severe climatic changes or exceptional weather conditions may affect the appearance, usability and life span of the product. The use of a tarpaulin with a ventilation system is strongly recommended during the season when the furniture is outdoors.

    Rain and humidity
If left under water, it will take several days for the furniture to dry out. This is normal, but take care to dry it and avoid standing water on top of it. Prolonged dampness accelerates the ageing of the product and encourages the appearance of rust and mould.

    Temperature conditions
Outdoor furniture is not designed to withstand low temperatures, let alone winter temperatures, which can affect the performance and condition of the surface. It is also sensitive to ambient humidity. Therefore, it is recommended to store it in a dry, well ventilated and closed place and therefore the use of a tarpaulin is not necessary. Before storage, clean and dry the products thoroughly to avoid the development of unpleasant odours or mould.
If you do not have a dry, well-ventilated and enclosed area, it is essential that you use a tarpaulin with a ventilation system to cover the furniture that remains outside. A protective tarpaulin reduces the impact of external aggressions (damage caused by trees, animals, pollution, etc.) on its lifespan. If the floor is damp, it is recommended to insert a wedge between the floor and the legs to prevent moisture transfer. In the case of a table that spends the winter outdoors, changing the angle slightly will also prevent the accumulation of water and dead leaves on the canvas.
If not used for a period of time, non-compliance with storage and care recommendations may lead to an accelerated deterioration of the surface condition and performance.
  • Structure and fasteners

Steel is a material that if exposed to external elements (humidity, salty winds) will rust.
In order to prevent the appearance of rust, the fasteners of your steel furniture should be regularly maintained. To do this, apply an anti-rust spray at least once at the beginning and end of the season (available at hardware or DIY shops). Increase the frequency of treatment every three months for furniture exposed to salty winds near the sea.
If rust still appears, it can be easily removed with common products such as white vinegar or citric acid. A cloth dampened with car polish can also remove rust spots. Finish with an anti-rust spray to protect the hardware and apply regularly.
  • Tables

    • Table with aluminium frame / HPL tabletop

      a. Your product

      Properties
High Pressure Laminate (HPL) is a material consisting of sheets of paper impregnated with thermosetting resins and a top layer of decorative melamine resin.
The different layers are bonded together by the combined effect of heat and pressure, thus providing a product suitable for outdoor use.
High Pressure Laminate (HPL) is a material with a smooth, non-porous, easy to clean surface.

Aluminium is a strong, lightweight material that does not rust.

      Manufacturing and assembly
The manufacture and assembly of this product requires to leave an adjustment gap between the different parts.
It is therefore normal to observe gaps/gaps of up to several millimetres between the various mounted elements (between two slats, between the plates, ...).
This tolerance, which is necessary for the proper manufacture of your product, can lead to small geometrical disparities.
This does not cause any loss of function of your product.

      Irregularities of appearance
Each product is industrially manufactured and assembled from parts whose surface treatment is carried out individually before assembly. These metallic elements cannot be free from irregularities in appearance that result from both the surface treatment process and the assembly operations. The final appearance of the product is directly related to these possible irregularities.

      b. Precautions for use

Do not place hot objects on the table, as they leave permanent marks on the tray (discolouration, deformation, cracks, etc.). Always use table mats.

      c. Maintenance, ageing, storage

It is normal to notice a natural wear of the product with time and use, in the form of an alteration of the colours and surface conditions, of the mechanical functions and of the fastenings of the screwed elements.

      UV exposure
Over time, discolouration of materials exposed to UV rays (textiles, paints, plastics) occurs, phenomena due to both the sun's rays and the moon's rays. This evolution of colours exposed to external elements is normal and is particularly related to bright colours.

      Bindings
The parts of your product assemblies become loose over time. Tighten them regularly.

      Daily maintenance
Your product is subjected to the elements, therefore, it must be cleaned frequently.
      Remove stains immediately.
Clean with a damp cloth soaked in warm soapy water (or warm for more pronounced stains), or with a specific, suitable product.
      Rinse with plenty of water.
Finish with a clean, dry cloth.
If in doubt, please consult a distributor or the equipment sheet on the Hesperide.com website.
If you do not clean it regularly, your product will get worse.

Climatic conditions (wind, rain, snow, frost, saline winds):
Outdoor furniture is designed for use in normal outdoor weather conditions. Extreme weather conditions or exceptional weather conditions may affect the appearance, proper use and life of the product. It is strongly recommended to use a tarpaulin with a ventilation system during the season when the furniture remains outside.

      Rain and humidity:
If left under water, it will take several days for the furniture to dry out. There is nothing abnormal about this, but be sure to clean it and prevent the water from stagnating. Prolonged dampness accelerates the ageing of the product and encourages rust or mildew.

      Temperature conditions:
Outdoor furniture is not made to withstand low temperature conditions, let alone winter temperatures, which can affect its performance and surface condition. They are also sensitive to ambient humidity. Therefore, it is advisable to store them in a dry, ventilated and closed place. Tarpaulin is not necessary. • Table with aluminium frame/composite tabletop

      a. Your product

      Properties
Composite strips (or CPS) are made of a plastic material that imitates wood. They offer all the advantages of wood without the disadvantages of regular maintenance. They are also non-porous.

The final appearance of the product is directly related to these possible irregularities.

      Heat exposure
When composite strips are exposed to direct sunlight, some deformation (expansion) may occur as a result of the heat. The composite returns to normal (shrinkage) when it cools down once it is no longer exposed to the sun's rays.

      b. Precautions for use

Do not place hot objects on the table, as they leave permanent marks on the tray (discolouration, deformation, cracks, etc.). Always use table mats.

CAUTION! Certain objects, such as a glass of water or a pair of glasses, can concentrate the sun's rays in a magnifying effect and cause them to hit the surface of the table.

      c. Maintenance, ageing, storage

It is normal to notice a natural wear of the product with time and use, in the form of an alteration of the colours and surface conditions, of the mechanical functions and of the fastenings of the screwed elements.

    • Table with aluminium frame/glass top

      a. Your product

      Properties
Tempered glass is glass that has undergone heat treatment. In the event of breakage, it breaks into small, non-cutting pieces.
The tempered glass surface is smart, non-porous and easy to clean.
When ground, it has been treated with acid to give it a milky effect.
When enamelled, the upper side is covered with a layer of vitrified enamel by heat treatment to give it an opaque effect.

Aluminium is a strong, lightweight material that does not rust.

Do not place hot objects on the table, as they leave permanent marks on the tray (discolouration, deformation, cracks, etc.). Always use table mats.

Avoid thermal variations on the glass (do not place hot objects on the table, use table mats, do not place frozen products on the table in direct sunlight). The accumulation of this type of thermal variation weakens the glass and can cause an explosion. However, this is rare and does not pose any danger: tempered glass explodes into small, non-cutting pieces.

These metallic elements cannot be free from irregularities in appearance that result from both the surface treatment process and the assembly operations. The final appearance of the product is directly related to these possible irregularities.

      Regularity of enamelling
Enamelled glass has the same characteristics as tempered glass, with the difference that its upper side is coated with a heat-treated vitrified enamel layer to give it an opaque effect. During installation, be sure to place the tray on the correct side, with the enamelled side facing upwards.
The application of the glaze layer may not be completely uniform and microbubbles inherent to this process may remain.
Appearance disparities may persist on the unglazed side (not visible when in use), but they do not hinder the proper use of the product and do not constitute a visual defect.

      b. Precautions for use

Do not place hot objects on the table, as they leave permanent marks on the tray (discolouration, deformation, cracks, etc.). Always use table mats.

    • Teak table

      a. Your product

      Properties
Teak wood is an exotic wood that does not rot and is hard-wearing.
Originally honey-coloured, it changes to grey/green tones when exposed to weathering and UV rays but retains its properties.

      Manufacturing and assembly
The manufacture and assembly of this product requires to leave an adjustment gap between the different parts.
It is therefore normal to observe gaps/gaps of up to several millimetres between the various mounted elements (between two slats, between the plates, ...).

      Bindings
The parts of your product assemblies become loose over time. Tighten them regularly.

      Temperature conditions:
Teak furniture can withstand low temperature conditions, even winter temperatures, without altering its function or surface condition. You can choose to store it in a protected place, in a dry, ventilated and closed room, or leave it outside, protected by a tarpaulin with a ventilation system. A protective cover reduces the impact of external aggressions (damage caused by trees, animals, pollution, etc.) throughout their lifetime. If the floor is wet, it is advisable to insert a wedge between the floor and the legs to prevent moisture transfer. In the case of a table that winters outside, a slight angle also prevents the accumulation of water and leaves on the canvas. Whichever solution is chosen, before any storage, clean and dry the products to avoid the appearance of unpleasant odours or mould.
If it is not used for a long period of time, if the storage recommendations are not followed, it will lead to accelerated wear of its surface and its proper functioning.

      Teak maintenance
Teak is a precious exotic wood that does not rot and has a beautiful honey-coloured shade. It is a natural material that lives and will evolve with time and exposure to weather and UV rays. You can choose to treat it regularly to maintain this honey colour or let it age naturally. If left to evolve, it will turn shades of grey/green and small cracks may appear. These changes are normal and do not affect the strength and durability of the furniture.
To preserve the original honey tone, treat teak with teak oil once or twice a year. Clean the furniture with a stiff brush and hot soapy water or a jet, maintaining the recommended distance before any treatment. Do not use a high-pressure jet. Sand the table first with coarse sandpaper and then finish with fine sandpaper to obtain an even surface finish. Apply the oil carefully following the oil manufacturer's instructions. Allow to dry, wipe off excess oil with a rag. Apply a second coat if recommended by the oil manufacturer.

Steel is a material that is exposed to external elements (humidity, salty winds) and will naturally rust. To prevent rust from appearing, the hardware of your steel furniture should be regularly maintained.

Prolonged dampness accelerates the ageing of the product and encourages the appearance of rust or mould.

Before any storage, clean and dry the products, to avoid the appearance of unpleasant odours or mould.
If you do not have a dry, ventilated and enclosed room, the use of a tarpaulin with a ventilation system is essential to cover the furniture that remains. A protective cover makes it possible to reduce the impact of external aggressions (damage caused by trees, animals, pollution, etc.) throughout its lifespan. If the floor is wet, it is advisable to insert a wedge between the floor and the legs to prevent moisture transfer. In the case of a table that winters outdoors, a slight angle also prevents the accumulation of water and leaves on the canvas.
If it is not used for a long period of time, if the storage recommendations are not followed, it will lead to accelerated wear of its surface and its proper functioning.

      Hardware protection:
Steel is a material that is exposed to external elements (humidity, salty winds) and will naturally rust. To prevent rust from appearing, the hardware of your steel furniture should be regularly maintained. To do this, apply an anti-rust pump at least once at the beginning and end of the season (available at hardware or DIY shops). Increase the frequency of treatment every 3 months for furniture exposed to salty winds at the seaside. If rust appears anyway, it can be easily removed with common products such as white vinegar or citric acid. A cloth soaked in car polish can also allow you to remove rust stains. Finish with an anti-rust spray to protect the hardware and apply it regularly.
    • Steel table

      a. Your product

      Properties
Epoxy steel is steel coated with a protective paint against rust.
Galvanised steel is steel coated with a layer of zinc to protect it from corrosion. It provides long-lasting protection for the furniture. The steel is then painted for an anti-corrosion effect.
Cataphoretic steel: Cataphoresis or electroplating is the most effective process for fighting corrosion. The steel is painted in a very uniform way thanks to the total immersion of the furniture in a paint bath, then it is treated with epoxy and finally baked in the oven.Manufacturing and assembly

Steel is a material that is exposed to external elements (humidity, salty winds) and will naturally rust. To prevent rust from appearing, our steel furniture is supplied with an epoxy treatment as standard. However, this coating gradually fades under the action of external elements and must be renewed regularly. To do this, apply an anti-rust pump at least once at the beginning and end of the season (available in hardware or DIY shops). Increase the frequency of treatment every 3 months for furniture exposed to salty winds at the seaside.

      Regularity of braiding
This garden furniture is entirely hand-braided. The braiding technique consists of weaving synthetic resin strands around a metal frame. It is possible to observe disparities in braiding tension. At each end point, the end of the excess strand, up to several centimetres long, is inserted into the braid. If this strand comes out, replace it. There is no risk of the braid coming loose.
Synthetic resin imitates natural rattan. Rattan has disparities in appearance that give it a unique character. The manufacturing process reproduces these variations in appearance and shade.

Over time, discolouration of materials exposed to UV rays (textiles, paints, plastics) occurs, phenomena due to both the sun's rays and the moon's rays. This evolution of colours exposed to external elements is normal and is particularly related to bright colours.

If you do not clean it regularly, your product will get worse.Climatic conditions (wind, rain, snow, frost, saline winds):

In the case of a table that winters outside, a slight angle also prevents the accumulation of water and leaves on the canvas.
If it is not used for a long period of time, if the storage recommendations are not followed, it will lead to accelerated wear of its surface and its proper functioning.Protection of fasteners:
    • Chair with aluminium frame covered with synthetic braided resin (PE)

      a. Your product

      Properties
PE (polyethylene) braided resin is a recyclable plastic material (polyethylene). It is braided by hand.

Aluminium is a strong, lightweight material that does not rust.

Polyester is a synthetic fabric that offers good resistance to tearing and chafing.

      Regularity of seams
Although we pay special attention to the quality and regularity of the seams, it is possible to observe that some threads are not cut after the end point of the seam. There is no risk of the seam coming loose. Cut this thread with scissors.

The manufacturing process reproduces these variations in appearance and shade.

      b. Precautions for use
Beware of knives and other sharp objects handled nearby. Watch out for burns from cigarettes and other heat sources.

If the pillows are not going to be used for a long period of time, it is recommended to store them in order to avoid possible discolouration during too long exposure to UV rays.

      Maintenance tips
Hand wash in warm water. Do not dry clean, never use a tumble dryer, do not use an iron. Leave to dry in the sun before replacing the pillows.

      Repair of synthetic resin:
Synthetic resin is a flexible but strong synthetic material. In the course of its lifetime, a filament can deform, even wear out. This chafing does not run the risk of spreading. Use a hairdryer at a distance of about ten centimetres to heat the strand and soften and reattach it (do not apply the hairdryer directly on the strand).

      a. Your product

      Properties
Aluminium is a strong, lightweight material that does not rust.

Texalin is a fabric made of polyester fibres coated with braided PVC.
Soft and hard-wearing, it offers optimal sitting comfort.

      Regularity of seams
Although we pay special attention to the quality and regularity of the seams, it is possible to observe that some threads are not cut after the end point of the seam. There is no risk of the seam coming loose. Cut this thread with scissors.

      b. Precautions for use

Beware of knives and other sharp objects handled nearby. Watch out for burns from cigarettes and other heat sources.

      Entretien quotidien
      Daily maintenance
Your product is subjected to the elements, therefore, it must be cleaned frequently.
      Remove stains immediately.
Clean with a damp cloth soaked in warm soapy water (or warm for more pronounced stains), or with a specific, suitable product.
      Rinse with plenty of water.
Finish with a clean, dry cloth.
If in doubt, please consult a distributor or the equipment sheet on the Hesperide.com website.
If you don't clean it regularly, your product will get worse.

Prolonged dampness accelerates the ageing of the product and encourages the appearance of rust or mould.

      Protection of fasteners:
    • Hammock with aluminium structure covered with synthetic braided resin (PE)

      a. Your product

      Properties
PE (polyethylene) braided resin is a recyclable plastic material (polyethylene). It is braided by hand.
Aluminium is a strong, lightweight material that does not rust.
Polyester is a synthetic fabric that offers good resistance to tearing and chafing.

The manufacturing process reproduces these variations in appearance and shade.

      Water repellency:
A surface treatment applied to a material to give it the ability to allow water to run off its surface rather than absorb it. Like any surface treatment, it will fade over time. It will quickly wear off when the material is exposed to external elements (rain, salty winds, dirt, friction). It is necessary to renew the treatment as soon as the material loses its water repellent property or after each washing. Water repellency should not be confused with water repellency. Even treated, a fabric cannot guarantee perfect waterproofing, especially at the seams. Its resistance to rain is therefore limited. A fabric exposed to rain, even when it is water repellent, will get wet and must be left to dry.

      Regularity of seams
Although we pay special attention to the quality and regularity of the seams, it is possible to observe that some threads are not cut after the end point of the seam. There is no risk of the seam coming loose. Cut this thread with scissors.

      b. Precautions for use

Beware of knives and other sharp objects handled nearby. Watch out for burns from cigarettes and other heat sources.

If the pillows are not going to be used for a long period of time, it is recommended to store them in order to avoid possible discolouration during too long exposure to UV rays.

If you don't clean it regularly, your product will get worse.

Prolonged dampness accelerates the ageing of the product and encourages the appearance of rust or mould.

    • Garden lounge synthetic braided resin (PE)/cushion

      a. Your product

      Properties
PE (polyethylene) braided resin is a recyclable plastic material (polyethylene). It is braided by hand.

Polyester is a synthetic fabric that offers good resistance to tearing and chafing.

      Manufacturing and assembly
The manufacture and assembly of this product requires to leave an adjustment gap between the different parts.
It is therefore normal to observe gaps/gaps of up to several millimetres between the various mounted elements (between two slats, between the plates, ...).

The final appearance of the product is directly related to these possible irregularities.

      Regularity of seams
Although we pay special attention to the quality and regularity of the seams, it is possible to observe that some threads are not cut after the end point of the seam. There is no risk of the seam coming loose. Cut this thread with scissors.

      Protection of hardware and structure:
Steel is a material that is exposed to external elements (humidity, salty winds) and will naturally rust. To prevent rust from appearing, our steel furniture is supplied with an epoxy treatment as standard. However, this coating gradually fades under the action of external elements and must be renewed regularly. To do this, apply an anti-rust pump at least once at the beginning and end of the season (available in hardware or DIY shops). Increase the frequency of treatment every 3 months for furniture exposed to salty winds at the seaside.
The fasteners must also undergo a similar treatment.
If the rust appears anyway, it can be easily removed with common products such as white vinegar or citric acid. A cloth soaked in car polish can also allow you to remove rust stains. Finish off with a rust-protection spray to protect the hardware and apply it regularly.

Use a hairdryer at a distance of about ten centimetres to heat the strand and soften and reposition it (do not apply the hairdryer directly on the strand).

      a. Your product

      Properties
Epoxy steel is steel coated with a protective paint against rust.
Galvanised steel is steel coated with a layer of zinc to protect it from corrosion. It provides long-lasting protection for furniture. The steel is then painted for an anti-corrosion effect.
Cataphoretic steel : Cataphoresis or electrodeposition is the most efficient process to fight against corrosion. The steel is painted in a very uniform way thanks to the total immersion of the furniture in a paint bath, then it is treated with epoxy and finally baked in the oven.

Aluminium is a strong, lightweight material that does not rust.

The frame is made of aluminium parts (for its lightness) and epoxy painted steel parts (for its robustness).

      Water evacuation
Presence of eyelets to facilitate the evacuation of water and prevent it from accumulating on the tarpaulin. It is therefore normal to see rain run off through these eyelets.

      b. Precautions for use

Beware of knives and other sharp objects handled nearby. Watch out for burns from cigarettes and other heat sources.

Even treated, a fabric cannot guarantee perfect waterproofness, especially at the seams. Its resistance to rain is therefore limited. A fabric exposed to rain, even when it is water repellent, will get wet and must be left to dry.
